If you parked in the Fisherman's Table carpark and have just done the Fisherman's Table track north (Kapiti Coast walkway) you can carefully cross SH1 and return on this 4WD Tranzmetro track beside the railway line. The track comes back to SH1 almost opposite the Fisherman's table beside a rest area with toilet. The rest area is commonly used by stalls selling fish or fruit/vegetables.

The hillsides on the other side of the railway lines are being planted with trees, and volunteers are being sought for ongoing redevelopment work.

Park off SH1 just north of the Fisherman's table at Paekakariki, or at the bottom of Ames St in Paekakariki.

Watch for trains - there is no barrier between the track and the railway lines.
