Description
The tracks shown are those in Camborne on the northern side of Porirua Harbour. It is a hilly suburb. The photo below shows the view from the reservoir on the top of the hill, from which tracks descend on both sides, joining Camborne Walkway beside the harbour. There are several parks, and tracks through the bush.
For the reservoir, park on the corner of Pope Street and Tremaine Place and walk the short distance up to the reservoir.
There are a number of access ways which involving ascending a lot of steps! These include Lagden Street to the end of Tremaine Place, and another (144 steps!) between the end of Pope Street near SH1 and the end of Taupo Crescent. There is also an accessway between Taupo Crescent and Lagden Street.
There is a shady bush track between St Ives Drive and Truro Road/Penryn Drive, and another bush track from Pendennis Point down to the Camborne Walkway. These are both well maintained tracks with wooden steps and sealed base in places.
Getting there
Turn on to Grays Road at the traffic lights on SH1. Follow the road round for about 1 km then turn right on to Pope Street at the top of the hill. This provides good access to the tracks in Camborne.
