Short hilltop walk to large white statue overlooking Paraparaumu

The entrance is signposted "Statue" between the Statue Bargain Barn (NZ's largest second hand store) and the school on Tongariro Street. The short walk up the hill is decorated with religious ikons, marking significant events as Jesus carried the Cross. The large white statue of Our Lady of Lourdes at the top watches over Paraparaumu and provides good views of the coast and across to Kapiti Island. The walk takes only about 10 minutes. Return the same way.

Park on Tongariro Street in Paraparaumu. At the traffic lights in Paraparaumu take the inland route, cross the railway lines and turn left on to Hinemoa Street. Tongariro St is about 200 metres north on the right.
