Steep hillside walk rewarded with harbour views

This track heads steeply up the hill from the entrance on Leeward Drive. There are some rough steps and bulldozed tracks. Work is still underway and in a few months the route may be a lot easier. The top of the hill (about 120 metres) affords excellent views over the harbour.

There are also entrances from the Spinnaker Drive side of Whitby Walkway - one almost opposite the Discovery Drive turnoff, and the other an accessway about 100 metres from Ayton Drive. These tracks are also being upgraded and now zig-zag gently up the hill.

Descending the other side the track exits on Mercury Way. A short way down this cul-de-sac is an unsignposted route access way through to Venus Place. Follow this around to the left to join up with the Whitby Walkway near Spinnaker Drive.

Access from Leeward Drive, The Anchorage, Mercury Way or Venus Place.

The easy way up is from Mercury Way or Spinnaker Drive. The route up from Leeward Drive is very steep.
