The main Catchpool track from the top carpark to the Orongorongo River is a wide and well maintained track suitable for all ages. Allow about 1 hour to walk to the river. There are wide and well maintained wooden bridges along the walk. For the more adventurous there are side tracks offering real tramping experiences. Huts along the river are private and must be booked.

There is a visitor centre near the entrance with information on the area and other walking tracks.

Catchpool is on the Coast Road about 12 km south of Wainuiomata. There is a large carpark with toilets at the end of the road about 1.5 km from the entrance.

The gates to Catchpool open at 8 am, and close at dusk (the time varies through the year and is posted at the gate and at the top carpark). This is a Kiwi area, so dogs must be kept on a leash and on the track at all times.
