Coastal walk from southern end of Titahi Bay

Several good tracks lead up the hill at the southern end of Titahi Bay, allowing a round trip loop walk in about 1 hour. From the South Beach Access Road in Titahi Bay (there is a car park and toilets here), walk either along the beach or on the track behind the boat sheds, cross a small bridge and follow the track up the hill above the coast. About 500 metres along the track there is a tar sealed road leading down to the coast (at low tide you could follow the coastline round to Green Point). Continue up the hill past some horse paddocks until you reach Moki St. From here you can walk down the tar sealed road to the coast (and either continue to Green Point or come back along the coast. Alternatively, walk up Moki St and left along Pikarere St for about 300 metres where there is a sign for the walking track to Tireti Road via Tuna Terrace. This is a sealed walking/cycling track (though steep in places if cycling, though it does zig-zag). Follow this track down to Tireti Road, across the road and down into Arnold Park which emerges near the car park at the end of South Beach Access Road at Titahi Bay.

Although it involves some uphill walking, you should do the round trip in about 1 hour.

Note that whilst the hilltop walk is an easy stroll, if you attempt the rocky coastal return routes for a loop trip, these are extremely rough. At LOW TIDE it is possible to walk round, but this requires good footwear and some clambering over rocks - see Titahi Bay coast.

You can park at the end of South Beach Access Road in Titahi Bay. Alternative start points are Moki St (noting that the gates are closed at dusk), Pikarere St (near Tikati View) or the end of Tuna Terrace.
