Wainuiomata, Wellington, New Zealand
Overview
A steep connector from Rata Ridge to Fraser Street.

Bike and Foot (Opened to mountain bikes in 2007)
Description
This track provides an alternative exit from Rata Ridge.
The upper part of the track is more like a fire break. As you descend, the track gets narrower, ending with a very steep gravel path consisting of several zigzags - which give the track its name.
Getting there
If descending Rata Ridge, then you’ll encounter a T-intersection about three quarters of the way down. The Zigzag track is clearly marked where it heads off to the left.
The Fraser Street end of the track is clearly marked. The sign by the street indicates no mountain bikes, but a newer sign just up the path shows that mountain bikes are permitted.
Other notes
Be aware that there are two very steep, smooth clay and bare rock sections which are extremely slippery when wet.
Length
0.9km
Conditions
Double track
