Description

From the car park off Mark Avenue head down a steep gravel path to the 4WD road that runs down a valley to a picnic area at the heart of Seton Nossiter Park. The northern end of the valley, against the motorway embankment, forms part of a flood control scheme for the Porirua Stream.

There are several stream crossings along the way, via small bridges or fords. One of the stream crossings has a set of solid stepping stones, while a weir just past the bottom of The Top Paddock consists of loose stones that provide precarious footing.

Part of the valley is a designated dog exercise area, where dogs are permitted to be off the leash.

From the picnic area there are three other tracks:

Bushland Grove heads up a hill out of the valley

Lawson's Track wanders up a connecting valley below Woodridge

The Top Paddock does a circuit that starts 0.45km along Lawson's Track and ends on the grass mound between the picnic area and the stone weir.

Getting there

Northwest end is at a car park off Mark Avenue.

Southeast end is in a valley on the boundary of Seton Nossiter Park.

Other notes

Beyond the stone weir there is a rough track that continues up a valley towards the northeast. The valley is jam-packed with blackberry and the unformed, informal, and presumably dead-end track appears to be used as a possum bait line.

See Grenada Village for more information about Seton Nossiter Park.
