These steps lead up to the back streets of Karori from a carpark near the corner of Chaytor St and Birdwood Street. This is handy for visitors to Karori Sanctuary or for joining up with the Sanctuary to Sea track.

Tracks lead off from the bush side of the steps to a Kohekohe Bush walk to Campbell St.

There is a bus stop on Chaytor St near the corner with Birdwood Street.
