Durham Street
Name
Durham Street
Location
Polhill, Wellington, New Zealand
Overview
Access to transmission towers and a couple of radio masts off Durham Street.
Grade
Easy to Extreme (bottom section)
Access
Bike and Foot
Description
The track begins with a 4WD track which leads to the electricity power pylons off the end of Durham Street. Part of this track coincides with Transient.
If you continue down the 4WD track, you'll drop down an extremely steep section of single track past a couple of radio masts. This section is difficult to walk down, so rates an "Extreme" grade if on a bike.
Past the lower mast there's a short section of somewhat overgrown single track that meets Transient. This is part of an old track that used to continue down to Aro Street, but which has been superseded by Transient.
Getting there
Head up what looks like a private driveway at 81 Durham Street, but which is apparently part of Durham Street, then down the 4WD road at the end. Parking is difficult in this area.
The bottom end meets Transient just above Aro Street.
Length
