Description

This track is fairly typical of the connecting tracks that are all over Mt Victoria. It is short, steep, infested with exposed tree roots (very slippery when wet), and has a surface consisting of pine needles and soft dirt. The track is also narrow and tight, making for a technical challenge to ride cleanly.

Getting there

Starts almost directly opposite the part of Southern Mt Victoria that skirts around the eastern side of Mount Alfred. As you reach the brow of the hill, turn right onto Te Ranga A Hiwi for a few metres and then sharply left down the hill.

Merges with Alexandra Park, at around its mid-point.

Other notes

This track was constructed in late 2009/early 2010. It will be used as part of the BikeNZ MTB National XC Mountain Bike Championships to be held on 27 February 2010.
