Description

Starting from no-man's-land just up hill from Puriri Street, this track provides access to the main track along the ridge between Wainuiomata and Eastbourne – that is, the Mount Lowry track.

It is a descent climb, with an average gradient of around 20% consisting of alternating very steep and not so steep sections. The surroundings are nice, consisting of mature native bush.

The track surface is primarily compacted clay, interspersed with exposed tree roots.

Getting there

Bottom is in a corner of an open grassy area off Wainuiomata Road, just uphill from Puriri Street.

Top meets Mount Lowry via a stile at a well sign-posted T-intersection.

Other notes

Like most tracks in this area, bikes are not permitted.
