Description

Part of a set showing walkways in the Botanic Garden - see also Druid Hill, Magpie Lawn and Carter Observatory. Altogether they probably cover about 80% of the pathways in the Botanic Gardens.

This area is a popular spot for wedding photographs. The Begonia House provides shelter during bad weather! There is a cafe and toilets alongside the Begonia House. Steps lead uphill from the north-western side of the rose gardens to the herb garden on the hill, which provides a view over the rose gardens. From the herb garden you can walk down the hill via the dwarf conifer collections to the main entrance on Glenmore Street.

The Dell lawn behind the Begonia House is sometimes used during summer for Shakespeare performances.

Getting there

Cars can be driven through the main botanic garden entrance off Glenmore St to a small carpark near the rose gardens and tea house. Foot access is also posible from Bolton St via Wesley Road or Kinross St, or from The Terrace via Bolten St foot bridge.

Other notes

No bicycles in the Botanic Gardens.
