This is a short track along the riverbank, and is listed here as it is one of the few access routes into the swamp. From the end of the track are many possible routes but the area quickly becomes boggy and you will need gum boots or waders to proceed further if it has been wet. Return along the same route.

A scenic drive goes around the wetland area. Turn off SH1 at Te Kauwhata on to Te Kauwhata Road which becomes Waerenga Road, and after about 16 km turn left on to Falls Road. The road sweeps round a long bend, and about 600 metres further just before a bridge over a small stream there is a DOC carpark on the left.
