Description
This road is used by 4WD vehicles, mainly anglers gaining access to the river mouth. There are many tracks leading off the route shown to the river. This is a gravel track and is used by 4WD vehicles, but is suitable for mountain bikes. There is another carpark near the estuary mouth where you can leave your bike and walk, or continue on a rougher track to the coast.
Getting there
When travelling north from Christchurch, turn left of SH1 immediately after crossing the Ashley river bridge. There is a carpark beside the river, with anglers access roads leading both east and west.
