Taylor Dam is a small lake on Taylor Pass Road just outside Blenheim, with nearby Omaka Domain (of historic interest as it was originally establish in 1897). This is a pleasant picnic spot or stop-over on your way to the ferry terminal at Picton.
There is a mountain bike park about 1 km away (trails hopefully will be added one day).
Getting there
Turn on to Alabama Road from SH1 about 2 km south of Blenheim and then turn left on to Maxwell Road (which becomes Taylor Pass Road) about 4 km further on at a roundabout (there is a signpost to hospital). Follow Taylor Pass Road for about 5 km out of Blenheim and Taylor Dam is on the right just after the 100 km/hr sign.
