Description

There are several places to enter the walkway which does a circuit round the Estuary. There is a good carpark with toilets in Humber Street off SH2. From there there is a wide flat track leading clockwise round the Estuary, up onto the bridge beside the rail bridge to cross the estuary, and then back down across the estuary on wooden walkways to cross the wetland areas (bicycles not permitted in this area). Allow about an hour to walk the circuit.

Getting there

Off SH2 going north out of Napier. Good carpark in Humber St, or park in the marked areas on Pandora Road. There is no access from the Main North Road (Highway 2B) on the western side of the estuary.

Other notes

Bicycles allowed on certain parts of the track - should be used through wetland area as this is a bird sanctuary.
