Description
The southern half of this dirt track runs parallel to Conclusion Street, presumedly leading to the track's name. In any case, this track provides a welcome escape from the sprawl of the surrounding suburbia.
Parts of this track are very steep, as it rolls along the top of a cliff. The effort is worthwhile, as the views are impressive – looking northwest over Papakowhai and across Porirua Harbour towards Whitireia Park (the Whitireia Coastline track is visible along the edge of the harbour).
The track surface is quite varied, ranging from bare rock and soft dirt, to concrete steps at the northern end, and a large wooden structure that spans a gully near the northern end.
Along the way there are several exits up or down to nearby streets, including an impressive set of ramps and steps down to Eskdale Road. Just before the track drops down a large set of steps to Livet Place, there is an exit up to Doncaster Terrace – directly across the grassy area at the top is the northern end of the Ascot Park Walkway.
Getting there
Southern end is on Whitford Brown Avenue, though there is the option of starting on Conclusion Street and dropping down an open grassy area between houses.
Northern end is in Livet Place, though access off the end of Doncaster Terrace is more bike friendly.
