Description

These are well formed routes with steps in places, but can be a bit muddy in winter. These tracks are quite popular with runners. The Blue and Otari Yellow Trails lead off the main Otari Wilton Bush track that follows the stream. The lower track is not too far from the stream. The upper track includes an 800 year old Rimu tree (it is signposted on the track).

The yellow and blue routes begin across a small bridge over the stream in the main picnic area which you can get to following the Otari Circular walks. The yellow route heads to the right up to the flax clearing. You can follow the lower or upper blue routes to the left and go round in a loop (ie follow the upper blue loop and then back down via the lower blue loop). A well marked (but not signposted) track on the upper blue route joins the blue route to the Skyline. Going a short way up the hill there is a style over a fence into the pine forest area, where you follow the fenceline to the right for a few hundred metres to a well marked junction. From here you can take the Kohekohe Trail (walkers only) or the Skyline Cemetery Link (cyclers allowed) or continue up to the Skyline.

There are several routes leading on to Karori Cemetery.
