Southern Truby King

Southern Truby King

Southern Suburbs, Wellington, New Zealand

Section of the Southern Walkway through Truby King Park.

Bike and Foot

From the eastern side of Karitane Entrance this track drops gently down a well-formed gravel path under the trees. There are a couple of steps down, but nothing significant.

After a short distance, just before a set of steps that go up to the apex of Karitane Entrance, turn off the well-formed path and down some single track that runs roughly parallel to Southern Truby King though without being quite so steep.

This track then converges with, and briefly coincides with, Southern Truby King along a section of gravel road. After less than 0.1km, this track diverges along a short piece of single track that meets the apex of a sweeping corner where it meets Coromandel and the northern end of Southern Truby King.

Getting there

Branches off the eastern side of the loop on Karitane Entrance.

Ends on Coromandel, just above the steps down to Coromandel Street.

Other notes

This track is part of the Southern Walkway, though it runs parallel to the nearby Coromandel which is confusingly also marked as being part of the Southern Walkway.

All of the Southern Walkway, which traverses the eastern town belt from Houghton Bay to Oriental Bay, is open to bikes except for the northern-most section from Palliser Road to Oriental Bay.
