Description
This is the primary access route to the Karori Park Beginners' Trail Project.
From a spur of Karori Park Loop, the western end of this track climbs up to a small plateau where there are a couple of picnic tables overlooking Karori Park. Just north of the picnic tables there is an easy, wide, and smooth path that heads north towards a glade where you'll find the Karori Pump track along with the top of The Snake (which emerges from the trees near the picnic tables). Another way to reach the glade is via the more challenging Upper Glade, which climbs up steeply from a 4-way intersection and then drops down an extremely steep bank just east of Karori Pump.
Directly opposite the end of The Snake is the top end of Karori Picnic Access, which is an easy way up to the plateau. An interesting way down from the plateau is via a connector that drops down a steep slope to the car park at the northeastern corner of Karori Park.
Getting there
Southwestern branch is at the bottom of Wahine, where it meets a spur of Karori Park Loop.
The northern end is just a few metres short of Karori Pump, immediately next to the top of The Snake.
Another branch diverges from east of the picnic tables and drops down to the Sunshine Avenue connection to Karori Park Loop.
