Description

This is a smooth and flat beginner's loop around the perimeter of Karori Park. It is popular with kids on bikes, walkers, and runners. The track is sufficiently wide to accommodate all users, consisting of two surfaces – the outer surface is asphalt, while the inner surface is hard-packed sand and fine gravel.

There are several access points to adjacent streets, along with a connection to the bottom of Wahine and the western and eastern extents of Karori Park Picnic. In the southwest corner there is a bridge that leads to an accessway behind the Terawhiti Bowling Club and then on to Makara Road – this is a popular exit for people on their way back to main car park of Makara Peak.

The loop itself is 1.0km long. There is an additional 0.7km of access paths, as shown on the map.

Getting there

The main access is off Karori Road, though there are several other access points as shown on the map.
