Description
Having branched off Buckley this track wanders up and along a rolling path to a T-intersection. Proceeding straight ahead will soon take you to Buckley Road. More usefully, turn left and weave your way down the hill.
About 20m from the T-intersection at the top, Houghton Bay lookout drops down the hillside into the bush. It rejoins this track further around a ridge to the east.
Near the bottom of the track is a short section that drops steeply down the hill. Alternatively, there is a somewhat less steep bypass to the south – which makes the climb significantly easier if heading up hill.
Getting there
Southeastern end is on Houghton Bay Road, at the treeline immediately behind the kid's play area.
Northern end crosses an exposed concrete pipe to meet Buckley at a T-intersection.
An alternative entrance/exit is on Buckley Road, 0.8km south of the top of Buckley.
Other notes
This is a popular walking track, so watch out for walkers – especially on the tight corners.
