Campbell's Mill

Campbell's Mill

Akatarawa Forest, Wellington, New Zealand

Fairly gentle farm road off Maungakotukutuku Road up to the western end of Titi.

Bike and Foot

This is a gentle wander along a winding farm road. It is a reasonable climb up from Maungakotukutuku Road, though nothing too strenuous.

Views over the Kapiti Coast are spectacular, especially near the top of the track.

The top of the track enters the Whakatiki Forest, just before meeting the western end of Titi at a busy intersection with tracks heading off in all directions.

For fit walkers, there is an optional unmarked route to Mt Wainui - refer information sign and map at the start of Campbell's Mill track of Mangakotukutuku Road. The track leads off to the right at the start of Akatarawara Forest.

Getting there

The northern end meets Maungakotukutuku Road 0.8km west of Kapiti Four x 4 Adventure.

The southern end meets an intersection with Titi and Hydro Valley Road.

Other notes

This track was opened to walking, horse riding, and mountain biking in October 2008. As of April 2009 there is still a "Keep out at all times" sign on a gate near the top at the edge of the Whakatiki Forest, but ignore that as it has been superceded by the shiny new information board and map just past the gate.

Nonetheless, much of this track crosses private land, so please note the information board's comment that "...the public are only invited to use the Road on the condition that farming and forestry operations are respected".
