Description
This is a gentle connector that provides a useful way to bypass some of the suburban streets. In addition to a smooth gravel surface, the track offers pleasant views over the harbour.
There is an upward gradient from south to north, averaging about 4% before the track eases down a couple of metres at the northern end.
Getting there
Starts from a small parking area on Akaroa Drive.
Ends at a metal barrier at the end of Prision Road.
Other notes
Maupuia Steps is a further section of the Maupuia Walkway, continuing from the Prison Road end of this track down to Shelly Bay Road, via a bunch of steps.
