Description

From the railway-style white picket fence at the western end, climb the easy gravel road and into the forest. The track then wanders along to the 221m long ex-railway tunnel. A light is suggested for the tunnel, though not necessary as the other end of the tunnel is always visible.

As you emerge from the eastern end of the tunnel, cruise along the remaining 0.2km to where the track ends at a white gate on a corner of the upper car park access road.

Getting there

The western end is just off Maymorn Road, next to the current rail line and near the western end of the 8.8km long Rimutaka Rail Tunnel.

The eastern end meets the Tunnel Gully Recreational Area area access road just below the upper car park, about 0.1km from Mount Climie and Mount Climie Firebreak.
