Description

This track provides a convenient and apparently well-used commuting route from the city over to the suburbs around Tinakori Hill.

Apart from a hairpin bend at the Grant Road end, the track slices diagonally up the hill – meeting the Northern Walkway in an area that was covered with mature pine trees until they were felled by a storm in 2004.

The track is quite steep, with a fairly constant gradient that averages 15%. Quite muddy and rutted at the moment with a small slip near the bend.

At the Scarff Memorial Scout Hall end of the track, there are two alternative routes – one adjacent to the Scout hall itself and the other takes a short cut to the road.

Getting there

Starts on Grant Road, next to the Scarff Memorial Scout Hall.

Ends at an intersection with the Northern Walkway.

Length
