Short walk to the highest waterfalls in Hawke's Bay
There is a covered picnic area at the carpark, and a toilet. From there the track has a gentle incline (about 120 m climb) initially across farmland and then through trees, to the waterfall. It may be possible to swim in the pool beneath the falls.
The sign says 2 hours return, but most fit people will complete the walk in around 30 minutes each way.
The track continues past the falls and can join up with Kamahi Loop.
From SH2, take Matahorua Road (from one of two turnoffs on SH2, depending on whether you are coming from Napier or Wairoa), and then follow the sign on to Heays Access Road. This is a gravel road.
