Coastal Walkway

Name

Coastal Walkway (Moa Point)

Location

Miramar, Wellington, New Zealand

Overview

Wander around the coast at the southern end of the Miramar peninsular.

Grade

Easy

Access

Bike and Foot

Description

This is a generally narrow, meandering and, in places, not well-formed wander around the south coast. Provided the wind isn't strong, the area provides pleasant views out to Cook Strait across a rugged, rocky shore.

Although the terrain is basically flat, this track is much easier to walk than to ride due to the occasionally poor track surface.

Getting there

One end is near the southern end of Wellington Airport. The other end is at the Wahine Memorial Park. In-between is Moa Point.

Other notes

Wahine Memorial Park is nothing special. A memorial plaque and one of the steering propellers from the Wahine is located in the park, but there isn't much else there. A more recent memorial can be found in Churchill Park.

Length

2.03km

Conditions

Single track
