Description
This is narrow track that sashays around the northern side of Makara Peak. It provides either an interesting exit from the summit, or an alternative climb up to the summit. A route in either direction that includes Varley's and Wahine is a popular combination.
There are several rocky sections to provide a bit of technical challenge when travelling in either direction.
At around the 1.0km point, when heading down, there is a 1m+ step down. The drop is straight ahead so if you want to avoid it, then deviate sharply to the right for an easier path.
Getting there
Drops down from the summit of Makara Peak, heading towards the north past the summit shelter.
The other end is at the point where Varley's meets Snake Charmer.
Other notes
This track is two-way, so watch out for people ascending.
