Description

This is an unmarked route across farmland to a beacon on the cliffs a little way west of Waitangi. Follow the main road through Waitangi and take the left hand route up on to the hill (not down to the fish factory by the wharf). At the end of the road is a wide turning circle with parking next to a large satellite dish for Chatham Island TV. From here go through a horse paddock and a fence, and then it is a walk through grass (which can be very long at times) directly to the beacon which you will see on the hill about 1 km away. There is an excellent view from the cliffs, but the area is exposed and it can be hard going on a windy day!

Allow 45 - 60 minutes to walk each way, and admire the view.
