Description
This is an important historical site. The entrance is marked with a shelter and information about the Moriori tree carvings. The loop walk through the Kopi trees is only a few hundred metres long. The tree carvings are slowly degrading as the trees grow and weather, but several are impressive.
Look for the nearby rugby field, and the odd stunted trees.

Getting there
Follow North Road round Te Whanga lagoon towards Kaingaroa. The signpost 5.5 km to Hapupu is about 5 km from Kaingaroa. There is a wide grassy area for parking in front of the fence around the Kopi trees. The roadway ends at the rugby field; turn left up the fenceline to reach the entrance to the tree carvings - don't go through the gate into the rugby field.
