Location: Central City, Wellington, New Zealand

Overview:
City shortcut past historic buildings beside motorway extension

Grade: Beginner

Access: Bike and Foot

Description:
This useful shortcut starts on upper Vivian St across the bridge over the motorway "tunnel". Oak Park Avenue heads south along the side of the tunnel with flax bushes on one side and historic buildings that were moved to build the motorway on the other. It then follows a driveway to upper Abel Smith Street. Crossing the street there is another shortcut Little Palmer Street and then a right turn on to Palmer Street and 50 metres further on to Aro Park. At this point the track meets City to Sea.

Also shown on this track is the nearby St John St steps. Steps lead up from the corner of Abel Smith Street and The Terrace. The steps are the continuation of Abel Smith Street and the top is no exit (leads only to houses), however at the top of the first flight of steps the sealed path leads off to the left and descends to Aro Park meeting up with the City to Sea walkway.

Getting there:
