Location: Wainuiomata, Wellington, New Zealand
Overview:
Very steep short walking track between Wainuiomtata Road and Mount Lowry.
Grade: Intermediate
Access: Foot
Description:
This is a very steep little track that zigzags down a gully off the main Mount Lowry track.
The track surface is mostly compacted dirt with occasional exposed tree roots.
The bottom of this track is rather awkwardly located, emerging into a small clearing on the edge of Wainuiomata Road – a 4 lane road in a 80 km/h zone. The bottom of Puriri is 0.3km down hill, in a much larger open area, though getting there will involve walking along the gutter of Wainuiomata Road for 0.1km, which isn't recommended as a fun activity.
Getting there:
Bottom is in a small grassy area off Wainuiomata Road.
Top meets Mount Lowry via a stile at a well sign-posted T-intersection.
Other notes:
Like most tracks in this area, bikes are not permitted.
Length: 0.50km
Conditions: Single track
