Description:
This route is part of the new Sanctuary-to-Sea route. It is a wide and flat track from the carpark off Churchill Drive (near Wilton House, popular for wedding receptions)to the entrance to Karori Cemetery on Seaforth Terrace. The Sanctuary-to-Sea route links to Trelissick park stream and to Karori Sanctuary (see Fenceline) and the council should complete the route by the end of 2009.
From the carpark off Churchill Drive the main picnic area is about 1 km away, where there are toilets, barbecue area, and several trails leading up into the bush. Continue for another 800 metres following the stream, where there is an exit to Ian Galloway park. Continue over a bridge and a short climb up to Karori Cemetery. The Sanctuary-to-Sea route is well marked, along with the SS Penguin and other trails around the cemetery.

Getting there:
There are carparks at Churchill Drive and on Wilton Road for Otari Wilton bush. Karori Cemetery is a short walk off Karori Road which is well served by buses. You can drive in to Karori Cemetery at times, but note that the gates do close at sunset.
