Location: Belmont Regional Park, Wellington, New Zealand

Overview:
Walking track up to a waterfall in a narrow gorge. The walk involves many unbridged creek crossings and clambering over boulders.

Grade: Advanced

Access: Foot

Description:
This is a wet and rocky walking track up the narrow Dry Creek valley.

The track is initially smooth and firm, but soon degenerates into a rough bush track. Along the way you'll cross the creek about 20 times, including a couple of sections where the track coincides with the creek bed, so expect to get wet feet.

As you near the end of the track, the valley narrows even more. Eventually the valley turns into a steep-sided ravine, at the head of which is the waterfall after which the track is named. Approaching the waterfall itself involves scrambling over large boulders and leaping over deep pools.

Getting there:
Wander up the valley from the Dry Creek car park. The start of the track is a bit past the (closed) flying fox.

The track is a deadend, so return the same way.

Length: 0.87km

Conditions: Single track
