Location: Mt Victoria, Wellington, New Zealand
Overview:
Short and steep downhill-only track from the northwest corner of Alexandra Park.
Grade: Advanced
Access: Bike and Foot
Description:
The northwestern corner of Alexandra Park sees the confluence of several tracks, of which this is the least obvious. In fact, it isn't even defined as a track at all, initially. To reach the track proper, cruise along the western edge of Alexandra Park on the same level as the playing field. Then dive into the bush at the southwestern corner of the park and wander along until you reach the edge of a cliff that overlooks an open grassy area.
After stopping to admire the view, contemplate the steep and rocky surface before proceeding. The track is narrow, so there is little choice but to head straight down the hill. Depending on the conditions and the gear you have, this short descent ranges from technically challenging through to insane. The price of failure is high: there are pickles nearby on both sides, and the jagged rocks are unforgiving.
Getting there:
Starts from the northwestern corner of Alexandra Park.
Ends at a saddle point on Hospital to Mt Vic.
Length: 0.34km
Conditions: Single track
