Location: Karori Park, Wellington, New Zealand
Overview:
Climbs up to above the glade and then drops down a dirt bank to Karori Pump.
Grade: Intermediate
Access: Bike and Foot
Description:
From a 4-way intersection, this initially wide track heads up the hill at quite a steep gradient. The climb is short, as the track reaches a plateau and then sidles around the hill under the trees.
As the track progresses it becomes less well defined, soon disappearing entirely. At that point, you'll find yourself quite some way above the glade that contains the Karori Pump. It is possible to scramble your way further along to a gully which then descends into the glade, though that route isn't ridable.
Instead, the quickest exit strategy is straight down a bank that drops into the glade – though on the way down beware of the trees, fallen branches, and extremely slippery dirt surface.
Getting there:
Heads up a hill between branches of Karori Park Picnic, then drops down a steep bank into the glade where Karori Pump is located.
Length: 0.22km
Conditions: Single track
