Pump track in a glade behind Karori Park.

Description:
This is a short pump track built in a flat glade behind Karori Park.
A pump track is a continuous loop of turns and bumps built on level ground. The idea is for a mountain bike or BMX rider to complete one or more circuits of the track without pedalling. Instead, forward momentum is created and maintained by pumping the bike up and down the bumps, primarily using the upper body.
Pumping is a key riding skill, as demonstrated and explained in this video.
This track was constructed in 2008-09 as part of the Karori Park Beginners' Trail Project.
Getting there:
Located in a glade behind Karori Park – most easily accessible from Karori Park Picnic, via Karori Picnic Access.
A fun exit is via The Snake, at the southern end of the glade.
Length: 0.05km
Conditions: Single track
