Description:
This 4wd road marks the northwestern boundary of the Makara Peak mountain bike park. Much of it is seldom used by recreational visitors to the park. Most people use only the top and bottom few percent of this track, from the end of Missing Link to the start of Aratihi and then from the top of Aratihi to the summit of Makara Peak – though a few hardy souls ride up the 0.6km to the top of Leaping Lizard.
Parts of the road are quite steep, so it can be a grind going up. When going down it is easy to gain plenty of speed, but there are occasional service vehicles using the road so watch out for them.
Getting there:
Top is at the summit of Makara Peak.
Bottom is at pylon 16, where it meets Missing Link and the bottom of Aratihi.
