Location: Makara Peak, Wellington, New Zealand
Overview:
Twisty technical descent. Features various optional wooden obstacles, including a spiral bridge that you go over then under.
Grade: Expert
Access: Bike and Foot
Description:
This is a twisty technical descent, with plenty of challenging (mostly optional) features including wooden obstacles. Near the bottom there is a spiral bridge that you go over then under. There isn't much room under the bridge, so remember to duck!
The track starts in open low scrub and ends in low dense bush. The lower reaches, in particular, provide a very pleasant environment – not that there is much opportunity to admire the scenery, as the track demands full attention.
Unlike most of Makara Peak, the lower parts of this track are slow to dry out after wet weather. This really is a dry weather track, as the difficult sections get much more arduous when wet.
