Chatham Islands
A group of ten islands lying 800 km east of Christchurch. The main Chatham Island is about 90 square kilometres and has a resident population of about 700 people. Pitt Island lies 16 km to the south and has a population of about 50 people. The islands are flat with lots of coastline to explore, and there are several Dept. of Conservation managed walkways. The roads are almost all gravel so it isn't very suitable for cycling.
