Hawkins Hill
Classic Wellington tiger country, big hills, great views, wind exposure, with generally dry and rocky tracks. Even though this area is on the fringe of the city you can feel a very long way from civilisation, and help should you require it.
Track building
Blazing of Barking Emu is well advanced. Formal approval for the track will be sought once the pilot track is complete – then track building will begin in earnest.
Meanwhile, the finishing touches are being put on Car Parts Extension.
Further information
The Feeling Great recreation guide has further information on the Te Kopahou Reserve tracks, including Red Rocks and Hawkins Hill to the bunkers (otherwise known as Ribs).
